Joel L Smothers Services Held

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. Services for Joel Lowery Smothers, 78, were Thursday afternoon at the Independence Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Campbell officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens with special Masonic services by the Holladay Masonic Lodge. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smothers was the son of the late Lowery and Eliza Pinkston Smothers, born in Logan, Ill. He lived in Benton and Carroll counties after leaving Illinois when he was 19. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Benton County. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Bradford Smothers; one son, Nevill Smothers, of Huntingdon; one brother, Miles³
